St. Andrew’s values self-expression, understanding creativity, identity development, exploration, development of technique, safe environment, and engagement in the community. We strive to preserve and develop these qualities through partnering with area arts institutions, valuing performance, studying historical significant artists and musicians, learning truth and beauty, and empathizing across cultural boundaries.
The study of art history and culture is incorporated into art projects as students learn about works of art, art movements, and cultural expressions that relate to these five specific artists. Proper use of media, tools, vocabulary, and process is demonstrated in the context of specific projects.
We strive to provide a foundation in music and drama education for all students that is engaging and fosters an ongoing appreciation throughout the elementary school years and beyond. It offers a unique way for children to express themselves and their feelings.
