Library

The mission of the St. Andrew’s library program is to support, stimulate, and inspire the educational experience of all students. Both the lower and middle school libraries are fully automated and between them, offer a rich collection of materials, in print and online.

libraryThe lower school library serves grades K – 5 and prides itself on offering friendly and individualized assistance. The library features an outstanding collection of children’s literature and students are scheduled for weekly library classes that include story time, book talks, reader’s theatre, and library skills sessions. Well-known authors and storytellers visit to share their books and encourage the writing process. The library plays a central role in the day to day learning experience of all St. Andrew’s students. The School firmly believes that establishing a love of reading is critical to future academic success and we see it as a place where each individual child can explore their own unique interests, stretch themselves to new levels, and discover all that they can do and be.

The newly opened middle school library, with its warm and inviting atmosphere, continues the fun an excitement of reading and research that students experienced in the lower school library. Here, students further refine research strategies and more sophisticated use of resources and there is an additional emphasis on academic data base use. Pleasure reading is encouraged through reader incentive programs, author visits, and presentations by resident college professors.

The School provides access to a wide variety of online resources. Information about and links to these services are provided here:
