Congratulations to all of the teachers and students who recently participated in the Private Schools Interscholastic Association Competition. This is the School’s first year competing in PSIA and our students performed wonderfully. The School was awarded 15 ribbons, and four students had first or second place finishes that qualify them to compete at the state level in April. Those students are:
- Payton Duke, 1st Place - Art Memory
- Maggie McGee, 2nd Place - Art Memory
- Kat Smith, 2nd Place - Impromptu Speaking
- Claudia Wramplemeier, 2nd Place - Vocabulary
The purpose of the PSIA academic program is to use competition to further develop students’ higher order thinking skills. PSIA also serves to honor and reward academic achievements, while using competition as a tool to prepare students for citizenship and success in their future lives. With 19 contest categories covering a wide range of disciplines, PSIA is an exciting opportunity for private school students in grades 1 through 8 to engage in academic competition with their peers throughout the state of Texas.
The St. Andrew’s team was coordinated by Jayme McBride (Primer teacher), who was assisted by several faculty coaches including Pam Zwickey (Pre-K teacher), Cindy Coapland (2nd grade), Jan Koesjan (2nd grade), Kay Brizzolara (Religion instructor), and Bobby Purcell (Middle School Language Arts instructor). Participating students in included:
- Tony Astuto
